Understanding Scriptures (IMPORTANT)

Many people today (If they are familiar with scripture) are only familiar with it by way of their pastor through snippets of single verses. Often times using only one verse, and basing an entire sermon, or even core theology on that one verse, and never bothering to read the whole chapter, can lead to misunderstanding, or even distortion of the scriptures. This is sort of like reading only one chapter of a novel, and believing you know the whole book. Some verses are right to the point, and can be presented in such a way, while others need more or all of the chapter to understand it's complexity. Let's use a classic example, shall we?

Many Preachers attest that we are not under old law, because Yahshua (Jesus the Christ) said so in Matthew Chapter 5:17, so let's read that verse Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill". Looking at this verse, we see that all that old law, and the teaching of it is useless, right? And Much of the Core Christian Biblical Philosophy, is based on this idea "Freed From the Law", but what happens when we read on from Chapter 17? Lets Read 18- 20 which finishes out that particular conversation in that chapter, because he goes on to the Be Attitudes after this.

So Matthew 18-20 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Please note that I highlighted "till all be fulfilled" He did nnot say till the lamb is slain, or untill He was crucified, and to assume He meant that, would be just that, an assumption, it is clear He was speaking of the end times, later in this blog we will speak of the new covenant. Now please read the entire Verse together

Matthew 5:17-20"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill".For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Here we see an entirely different picture, one that demands a Christian far more obedient to the word. And it also clearly states that those who teach differently are like the Pharisees! So here is a great example to show one how taking scriptures out of context is not only risky, it leads to out right deception! Many of us have had the habit of reading scripture, seeing the truth, and then weighing what has been revealed to us with what preachers say, when we should weigh what preachers say with the Word of Yahweh and see if that preacher has a right Spirit to begin with.

It is also important to understand the Hebrew customs of that day, in order to better understand what Yahweh was communicating to those people, because those people He communicated with were Hebrew. This site will not only familiarize you with scriptures, but also Hebrew customs so that you can better understand the Message Yahweh gave to this world.
